Dinged My Board, Kook.

about

I have decided to repost this song with a lengthy description or explanation.

This song is basically my reaction to the social media generation who aren’t shy on sharing everything that was once sacred. A simple analogy to describe the repercussions of such sharing or exposing of once relatively unknown coastal spots is “If you find a good fishing spot, why tell anyone? It’s only going to lessen your chance of catching a fish”

I felt that my angst would be far better dealt thru a piece of art if you will, in order to vent any frustrations or demons associated with the overwhelmingly oversaturated offenders. I have recently realised that you cannot control what people say or post so any effort to oppose it is basically futile. Just remember this when all of your favourite spots are overrun by too many people, maybe then the penny will drop.

This song isn’t directed at any one offender per se, it’s a take on the whole new generation of people who haven’t experienced the sacredness of the world as it existed without social media. To think that it is directed at any one single person would be pure flattery!

Some of the lines or sayings have been borrowed or used from certain situations that south coast surfers have been in over the years and are not directed at any one in particular, merely quotes from actual occurrences.

The song is written in the style of hardcore/metalcore borrowing heavily from bands like The Acacia Strain and Thy Art Is Murder to name a few. If you’ve ever listened to any of these bands (or death metal in general) one would know that their lyrics deal with rather gruesome topics and aren’t always to be taken on the utmost seriousness.

Therefore, no harm is meant to anyone despite the tone of the lyrics. Lyrically it is unusual for this subject to be in a PBD song that’s for sure but if you’ve read this far, please enjoy the riffs and production! I put a fair amount of effort into it and I am proud of the guitar tone and overall mix. Mosh on, and don’t take life too fucken seriously.

lyrics

LYRICS:

Take something beautiful and exploit for all to see. Don’t use your imagination that’s the fucking key.

Swim against the incoming tide of a generation of fuck wits. Hold your breath, because the tidal wave is coming.

Slice off your wrists, every thing is bliss A Slice Of the Wrists, can you regram this?

Don’t cut off you nose to despite your face
I’ll Cut off your nose, I despise your face

Its not like I’m threatening you I’m fucking telling you, you pull that camera out, I’ll smash it, into a thousand pieces.

pointbreakdown WA, Australia

So Bodhi DID paddle to New Zealand, stayed there for a few years. Got sick of the locals then paddled to Fluffy Tonkers for the 50 year storm. Lost his board, and rode a great white to south west of WA where he currently resides, writing brutal tunes of his past exploits. ... more
